How We Met
Steve and I met in 2015 at church, we were introduced by my cousin and his wife. We were friends for 6 months before finally getting the courage to ask each other out. We played softball together and had a mutual love for the same things.
Fast forward to July 28th 2019, Steve popped the question on a dock overlooking the Grand River. Literally 2 days later we looked at Running Horse Farm and knew from the minute we walked in that this was the place we were going to get married. My parents even told me “Jen, we are going to look at at least 3 venues before we book” but right after our tour we put in the deposit that day. We never went and looked at any other places.

Why Running Horse Farm?
I knew I wanted a rustic barn wedding and I actually found you on Facebook! I just loved the back story of the barn and your family renovating it! It gives the place so much character! Then I knew some of the brides that had gotten married there and after seeing their pictures I was like “I would love to get married their someday” even before we were engaged!
Wedding Theme:
Greenery and White Flowers
our favorite moment
Steve and I did not do a first look. We wanted to save that for the ceremony. We had our officiant pray over us while we were holding hands back to back right before the ceremony and that was probably my favorite part of the day. I did however do a first look with my Dad! It was very special.
“Wedding planning was going really well and we had everything almost done. Until the pandemic hit in March and we had to cancel our May 16th wedding. Megan gave us the bad news that the barn would be closed due to the shut down. We also didn’t get to have our bridal shower or bachelorette/bachelor parties. We were crushed, but knew we would have our day eventually.”
“Steve and I decided that we weren’t going to let Covid take one more thing from us. We wanted to keep our original date of May 16th so we had a small ceremony with immediate family on that day. It was perfect. We knew one day we would still get our big celebration. Even if they meant rescheduling 3 times.
Fast forward to April 17th 2021 we finally got to have our day and it was a dream come true! It was everything we’d hoped it would be! The day could not have gone any more perfectly. This one day made up for all the tough times we had last year and I’m so glad we proceeded with our original plans.”
